Whoopi Goldberg has been a long-time vocal advocate of medical marijuana. So maybe it was only a matter of time before she dived into the burgeoning legal pot business. The Oscar-winning actress is launching a medical marijuana line for women, aimed at relieving menstrual cramps, she told Vanity Fair in a recent interview.

The Whoopi & Maya line, created in partnership with Om Edibles owner Maya Elisabeth, will include products like weed edibles, topical rubs, liquid extracts and a “profoundly relaxing” THC-infused bath soak. “For me, I feel like if you don’t want to get high high, this is a product specifically just to get rid of discomfort,” said The View co-host. “Smoking a joint is fine, but most people can’t smoke a joint and go to work.”

The products are portable, discreet, and could be used in the workplace or on-the-go. "This, you can put it in your purse," Goldberg told the magazine. "You can put the rub on your lower stomach and lower back at work, and then when you get home you can get in the tub for a soak or make tea, and it allows you to continue to work throughout the day."

For people who are resistant to the mind-altering effects of pot, Whoopi & Maya will also include products with only cannabidiol (CBD,) without the THC that gets you high.

Goldberg, 60, said she has two granddaughters who suffer from "severe cramps" and she realized there was a market for an all-natural product targeting menstrual pain. When she first brought up the idea, she was told the idea was “niche.” “Hey, this niche is half the population on the earth,” she said. “This seems to be people flippantly blowing you off, which is what you get whenever you start talking about cramps.”

Whoopi has been open about her long-time use of medical marijuana to treat glaucoma-related headaches. In a 2014 column for the Cannabist, she raved about her medical pot vape pen, which she nicknamed “Sippy.” “It’s important for people to know that there are alternatives out there to pain management,” she wrote. “And this one is particularly magical.”
