John Stamos, perhaps best known for his role as "Uncle Jesse" on the family-oriented sitcom Full House, was arrested this weekend for driving under the influence.
The 51-year-old actor was pulled over on Friday night in Beverly Hills after police received “numerous calls” about a possible drunken driver, said police Sgt. David Armour.
Stamos was then transported to a local hospital due to a “possible medical condition.” At the hospital, authorities concluded that he had been driving intoxicated. He was cited for a DUI and arrested, said Armour.
According to the actor’s Twitter, he was released the following morning. "Thanks to everyone for their love & support," he tweeted on Saturday. "I'm home & well. Very appreciative of the (Beverly Hills police) & Cedars (hospital) for their care." Beyond this, he has declined to comment on the incident. Stamos’ court date is reportedly set for September 11.
This is not the first time Stamos’ drinking has made headlines. Back in 2007, the media reported “bizarre behavior” after he appeared to be drunk on an Australian morning TV show. At the time, he blamed the incident on jet lag.

"I was not drinking. I did not drink either morning," he said. "I do not have an alcohol problem.” But in a later interview, he admitted: “When I went on that morning show, I was drunk. Yes, I was on sleeping pills and I was jet-lagged, but I was also just plastered.”
The recent setback came during a resurgent interest in Stamos, who said in April on Jimmy Kimmel Live that a new spin-off series of Full House had been green-lighted by Netflix.
