When you struggle with depression, you cannot live your life to the fullest. You don’t function as well at work, your relationships suffer and you experience health problems. If left untreated, the worst cases of depression can end in suicide.
Fortunately, you don’t have to continue to live with depression. With the proper treatment, you can recover from this condition and live a better life. However, because of the expense associated with depression treatment, some people are afraid to begin the process. Luckily, if you have coverage through Magellan, you may be able to receive treatment at one of the Magellan Health Services Depression Treatment Centers in your area.
About Magellan
Magellan Health is not a traditional insurer. Instead, it is a healthcare management company that provides solutions for other insurers. Some of the solutions available from Magellan Health include prescription management, employee assistance program and behavioral healthcare management. Insurers can decide which of these solutions will be included with their plans. Thus, if you have benefits through Magellan, you may have access to only one of these programs, or you may have access to more than one.
Understanding Your Coverage
Depending on the programs your insurer offers, you may or may not have access to care at Magellan Health Services Depression Treatment Centers. For example, if your plan offers a behavioral healthcare program or EAP through Magellan, this type of treatment may be covered. However, if your plan includes Magellan prescription coverage only, care at Magellan Health Services Depression Treatment Centers won’t be included in your plan.
Keep in mind that, even if you are not eligible for depression treatment through Magellan, your insurance plan may still cover depression treatment through other sources.
What Will I Pay?
If you are eligible for treatment through Magellan, you may still be responsible for some of your treatment expenses. For example, you may be required to meet a deductible, pay copays for certain services or pay coinsurance for the treatment you receive after your deductible has been met. To learn more about these requirements, consult your plan documents or contact Magellan directly.
Please keep in mind that you may need to meet certain requirements to qualify for depression treatment coverage through Magellan. For example, you may need to obtain precertification for certain services, or you may need a referral from you primary doctor. Inquire about these requirements before you begin treatment.
