Although it may not be as dangerous to your health as an alcohol or drug addiction, being addicted to the internet can still affect your life dramatically. For many people, seeking professional treatment is the only way to overcome this detrimental condition.
If you are interested in seeking treatment for an internet addiction, it is wise to find out how much treatment will cost before you begin. Luckily, if you have an insurance policy from Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, a portion of your expenses may be covered.
Which Plan Do You Have?
Blue Cross and Blue Shield offers several different types of health plans, all of which operate differently. The most common plans include:
- Health Maintenance Organization Plans
- Preferred Provider Organization Plans
- Catastrophic Plans
The type of plan you have will determine how your Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Internet Addiction Coverage will be calculated.
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans
If you have an HMO plan, your internet addiction treatment will be covered only if you choose providers from within the HMO network. Typically, this type of plan will also require you to obtain a referral from your primary care physician before you begin any type of addiction treatment that involves a specialist. In any case, none of your expenses will be covered until you have met the plan’s annual deductible. After meeting the deductible, you will be required to pay copays and/or coinsurance, as determined by your plan.
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plans
With a PPO plan, you won’t typically be required to obtain a referral before visiting an addiction specialist. This plan will pay for treatment received from both in-network and out-of-network providers. However, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Internet Addiction Coverage for treatment received from in-network providers will be higher than for treatment received from out-of-network providers. As with an HMO plan, you must meet your deducible before services will be covered, and copays or coinsurance may be required after the deductible has been met.
Catastrophic Plans
Catastrophic plans are designed for customers who are under 30 or cannot afford better coverage. With this plan, you will likely pay a much higher deductible. Your coinsurance and copay requirements may be significantly higher as well. Consult your plan documents for specific information about your internet addiction treatment coverage under this type of policy.
