Introduction and Basic Services

Rock Springs is a brand new behavioral health hospital in the Austin, Texas suburb of Georgetown. Rock Springs offers detox, residential and outpatient treatment for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. The facility serves the Austin area with clinical-level care in a comfortable, upscale setting.

Facility and Meals

The facility is set on a large park-like campus. The building has modern architectural elements and huge windows. The common room has a TV, a skylight and a circle of armchairs to facilitate group interaction. There is a computer room with a TV and ten laptops to accommodate residents at Rock Springs who may need to use them as part of their treatment plan.

Semi-private bedrooms have double twin beds as well as separate desks and large wardrobes. There are en-suite bathrooms to provide the two residents with privacy. Double rooms with larger, full beds are also available and have similar amenities. There is a laundry room with a number of nearly brand-new machines. There is also a fitness area with a number of cardio machines and an outdoor basketball court.

Meals and snacks are served in a cafeteria. Food is nutritious and approved by a dietitian. Snacks are available. There are outdoor pavilions and activity spaces as well as a well-manicured courtyard for clients to relax with their fellow residents in the Texan sun.

Treatment Protocol and Team

Admission involves a comprehensive assessment of psychological conditions, behavioral problems, medical needs, family dynamics and vocational needs. Residents work with their therapists to set clear goals for their stay. Medically supervised detox is available on-site, but doesn’t use Suboxone or methadone. Inpatient clients are overseen around-the-clock by nurses and undergo 10 hours of programming per day, including group therapy, educational lectures and family therapy.

After primary care, clients can transition into PHP, which runs five days a week, with clients residing at home or in sober living. PHP entails five to six hours a day in group psychotherapy, recreational therapy and educational groups. IOP is also offered, meeting for three hours a day three days a week.

Treatment employs MI, CBT, DBT and the 12 steps in addition to creative therapies. There is no individual therapy at Rock Springs. Rock Springs also utilizes an e-learning recovery program and tracking system called COGNIT, available both during residency and after discharge. Good Days Ahead is also used, which helps residents manage stress, anxiety and depression, as well as the Hazelden Co-occurring Disorders Program, a set of books and therapies designed specifically for those facing both substance abuse and mental illness.

The treatment team includes doctors, nurses, Master’s-level therapists and recreational therapists. Clinical staff includes a psychiatrist, a psychologist, staff nurses, patient care, a recreational therapist and a social worker, who also functions as a family therapist.

Aftercare involves a discharge plan and continued participation in the internet-based programs that are a part of treatment.

Bonus Amenities

Holistic care is also available, such as nutrition counseling and workout activities including yoga. Rock Springs also offers pet therapy. Family therapy involves support and educational groups as well as family meals.

A support group is also offered to alumni every Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, giving clients a chance to connect with others in recovery.

Summary

Rock Springs offers solid clinical care along with cutting-edge web-based treatments that can be continued once the client returns home. The facility is ideal for those seeking comprehensive, medically supervised treatment in the Austin area.
