Introduction and Basic Services

Restore Health and Wellness is a state of the art luxury substance abuse treatment facility located in Encino, California. Founded in 2015, this JCAHO-accredited organization was founded with a primary focus on treating the root causes of the client’s addiction rather than symptom management. The approach is an individualized, comprehensive program that can provide a full continuum of care including medical detox, residential treatment, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and sober living. Restore is also equipped to treat co-occurring disorders.

Facility and Meals

Residents of Restore Health and Wellness enjoy top of the line accommodations. Clients of the residential program live in a 6,500 square-foot luxury estate in Northridge, roughly 20 miles away from downtown Los Angeles and six miles north of the treatment facility in Encino. The estate sleeps up to 22 clients in the residential stage of treatment. The ranch-style mansion is large enough to have two separate gender-specific wings with six bedrooms apiece. All clients have one roommate and a supervisor sleeps nearby. One bathroom is situated for every two rooms, with each room feautring two full or queen-sized beds.

There is a pool house on the grounds with two spacious common areas that have TVs with cable access. Two gazebos and an outdoor kitchen are perfect for cookouts, and a heated pool can be used day or night. Volleyball and tennis courts are also available to clients during free time. In addition, business centers for computer use are available at both the estate and the treatment facility in Encino.

The sober living facility is less than a mile away from the main house. Clients can participate in the facility’s outpatient programs and are expected to work or go to school. Cell phone and laptop use is permitted in the sober living facility. Community involvement is an important part of sober living, helping clients avoid isolation and self-destructive boredom and instead develop healthy social connections and life skills. Included in this is learning to structure a daily routine, establishing responsible financial habits and managing medication and personal hygiene.

Restore’s luxury accommodations include a full-service kitchen and an on-site chef. A daily continental breakfast with coffee and tea is provided, as well as lunch and dinner with menus emphasizing a balanced, healthy diet. Though the occasional comfort food is prepared, the meals are very nutritious and can be tailored to clients with dietary restrictions or preferences.

Treatment Protocol and Team

Generally the first phase of a client’s recovery is detox, which typically lasts between five and seven days. The facility’s residential program is customized to the individual and lengths of stay vary based on the client’s needs but is usually between 30 and 45 days. When applicable, IOP generally lasts for a period of 30 days, and PHP between three and five weeks.

The facility combines both traditional modalities and alternative therapies for a truly comprehensive program. Residents must attend at least one group session a day, a minimum of two individual sessions a week, and at least one peer support meeting a day, be it 12-step, Refuge Recovery or SMART Recovery. Therapists implement CBT and relapse prevention techniques, and there is a consulting psychiatrist who facilitates dual diagnosis support. EMDR is also offered by the clinical staff to alleviate past trauma that may be a contributing factor to substance abuse for some clients.

In order to address more than just the symptoms of addiction, clients also participate in complementary alternative therapies including art therapy, chiropractic therapy, yoga and meditation. Other forms of wellness therapy include biofeedback, nutritional education and chiropractic care.

For clients who opt for PHP, either as the first phase of treatment or for stepped-down care, the proram is three to five weeks with treatment at least five days a week (with the option of weekend and evening sessions). It’s ideal for those who want to continue working or engaging directly with their family commitments during treatment. Also included is relapse prevention training, which deals with recognizing triggers, avoiding dangerous situations and coping with life stressors. IOP is the final phase in the continuum or can be entered into directly when appropriate, generally lasting 30 days. This phase involves specialized group therapy once or twice a week.

The Restore team includes MFTs, LCSWs, counselors, psychologists and psychiatrist as well as medical doctors that see residents prior to admission.

Restore is focused on every client’s aftercare, and ecourages participation in one of the outpatient programs and/or taking advantage of the sober living options offered. Mentorship is encouraged as an alumni program is available for clients following completion of treatment.

Family and friends can visit during visitation hours on the weekends, and client’s families are encouraged to participate in family therapy.

Bonus Amenities

There are plenty of amenities for clients at Restore. All residents are involved in a fitness recovery program that synchronizes the spiritual aspects of 12-step within an exercise regimen. In addition, clients go to a neighborhood gym several times a week. Residents also participate in martial arts training.

The clients go off-site to movies, parks and restaurants as well as other recovery activities several times a month.

Summary

Restore Health and Wellness is a luxury treatment facility that provides individualized treatment that synchronizes traditional therapies and an array of alternative modalities to treat the whole person. It will come as good news for clients that Restore accepts most insurances, as this facility is top of the line and the staff extremely devoted.
