The Basics

The Recovery Village Columbus is nestled in the suburb of Groveport, Ohio just 10 miles from downtown Columbus. A member of the larger Recovery Village network, which has facilities across the country, Recovery Village Columbus was founded in 2017 and offers detox, residential treatment and outpatient care for adult men and women struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders

Facility and Meals

Recovery Village’s treatment center is an ultra-modern facility on six and a half acres of land. The residence has a mixture of both private and shared rooms. Shared rooms have twin beds and shared bathrooms for the two occupants. The rooms are uncluttered, with two queen-size beds, a shaded lamp for ambient reading light, and a shared cabinet with three drawers for each occupant. Each private room comes with its own attached bathroom. The private rooms have an added cost that is not covered by health insurance.

In addition to the bedrooms and therapy rooms, Recovery Village has an art studio, two gyms and a recreational room with shuffleboard and a pool table. The organization operates therapy out of its main residential building and the therapy rooms are furnished with leather and suede couches.

Recovery Village has an on-site professional chef who prepares three meals a day. A dietician oversees the menu and designs culinary options around the needs of the clients. All means are healthy and made with organic ingredients whenever possible.

Treatment Protocol and Team

The organization offers medical detox for clients who are undergoing withdrawal symptoms. The detox lasts between five to 10 days and involves 24-hour medical care. Clients in detox treatment also offered individual counseling as well as optional massage and hydrotherapy.

Recovery Village’s residential program is individually tailored to meet the needs of the client and can last as long as needed. Clients in residential treatment are taken through individual and group therapy, where counselors focus on the roots of the addiction, the progress made and the goals of the desired change. Counselors use variety of treatment techniques including CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), relapse prevention, education and sharing. Other topics covered in both individual and group sessions include sexuality, family patterns, assertiveness and self-esteem. Nurses, psychiatrists, and addiction counselors also regularly check on clients in the residential program.

Recovery Village also operates a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) that offers less restrictive treatment after medical detox and residential rehab. Clients in the PHP have 18 to 20 hours of group therapy per week and attend treatment five to seven days a week. During PHP, the client is taken through group therapy, 12-step principles and mental health sessions.

There is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that meets for nine hours of therapy a week. IOP clients participate in both group and individual sessions. This program lasts as long as clients need and meets usually three days a week.

Recovery Village offers a standard outpatient program to help keep the client accountable for continued sobriety. They usually come in several times a week for the first three months after completing the IOP.

An aftercare program is in place to help clients who have finished all treatment programs avoid relapse. The client continues to see psychiatrists, counselors and sponsors for continued therapy for individual meetings and the treatment is strongly focused on relapse prevention and identifying triggers. Clients are also encouraged to pursue professional and educational goals.

Recovery Village is 12-step oriented and clients attend daily AA meetings when they first begin residential treatment and are strongly encouraged to attend local 12-step meetings after leaving Recovery Village.

The organization is also equipped to treat dual diagnosis and offers mental health counseling and therapy for clients with potential co-occurring disorders.

Recovery Village’s staff is made up of different physical and mental health experts including dieticians, nurses, psychiatrists, RNs, LPNs and addiction experts.
