It’s safe to say that Nicholas Brendon would like a do-over on 2015. The actor, best known for his role as Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is back in rehab after pleading guilty to charges stemming from his fourth arrest of the year.

Brendon, 44, pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal mischief after allegedly choking his girlfriend in a hotel room in September. He originally faced far more serious charges stemming from the incident, including third-degree robbery, a felony, two counts of criminal mischief, and one count of obstruction of breathing. The judge in his case said that Brendon won't go to jail if he avoids further run-ins with the law for 12 months, and completes drug and alcohol counseling.

But before he faced sentencing, Brendon confirmed in a Facebook post last Saturday that he planned to head back to rehab. He previously spoke of his plans to enter treatment shortly following his arrest.

"It's another beautiful day on this round floating rock we call planet earth," he wrote. "I'm heading back to treatment today to continue #kickingdepressionintheballsack. After successfully taking care of some life business. Much much love to you all. Your stories & support are appreciated lovlies!!"

Brendon has been arrested on three other occasions this year. He was arrested for public intoxication last May, in addition to arrests in February and March for destroying hotel rooms while he was intoxicated. He also revealed in October that he previously had “failed attempts at suicide,” but was determined to win his battle with addiction.

“I'm not perfect and I'm the first to admit that I've made mistakes," he wrote at the time. "But I'm trying and will continue to try until I'm not walking this earth anymore. I love you all so much. Even the naysayers. I just have love."
