Does she or doesn’t she? That’s the question we’re left to contemplate, after CBS This Morning host Gayle King hinted on a recent TV appearance that her famous best friend, Oprah Winfrey, enjoys cannabis.

King was in the midst of her first-ever appearance as a guest on Ellen, when the subject turned to cannabis. King described a conversation she’d had with comedian Amy Schumer at DeGeneres’ star-studded birthday party in February.

“We had a conversation later about marijuana, and I said I’d never smoked a marijuana cigarette,” said King

Schumer replied, “Well we have to do something about that.”

King admitted that she is as “big square” who prefers to be “high on life,” but said she “would try it with Amy, but I don’t intend to do it publicly.”

Then she added, “Oprah has smoked a little marijuana too, I don’t mind saying that. I’m not telling tales out of school.”

When Ellen asked if Oprah likes cannabis, King jokingly replied, “I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate her.” Then added, “It’s not something that happens on a regular—I’m going to change the subject. So how are you?”

The media mogul, former talk show host, Academy Award-nominated actress, and CEO of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) has touched on her own cannabis use before, joking on Watch What Happens Live in 2013 that she’d revisit it with host Andy Cohen. Cannabis is legal, after all, for medical and adult use in California, where Oprah resides.

When asked when was the last time she’d smoked weed, she replied, “Uh…19…82.” Cohen said, “Let’s hang out after the show.” Responding in stride, Oprah said, “Okay! I hear it’s gotten better.”

Her close friend King, on the other hand, has yet to try cannabis. Though she’s open to it, she said it’s not on her priority list. “Listen, I have set no date, no time,” she told Ellen. “I’ve gone all this time without smoking it. I don’t feel like I’m missing—am I missing something, Ellen?”

"I mean, some people really, really like it," said the talk show host. "But to me, I don't like feeling out of control. And to me that's how I feel. It doesn't relax me."
