Days after video of the performance was made public, the 66-year-old legend revealed he is suffering from a major health issue.

This weekend TMZ released footage of music legend David Cassidy appearing to be under the influence during a live performance on Saturday (Feb. 18), sparking speculation from the gossip site that he’d fallen off the wagon after several high-profile DUI arrests over the last decade.

The next day, during a Sunday night performance, Cassidy told the crowd that it would be his last due to health reasons. The ‘70s teen heartthrob, known for playing Keith Partridge on the musical sitcom The Partridge Family, was filmed slurring his words, forgetting lyrics, and at one point falling off the stage during his Saturday night performance in Agoura, California.

But judging by the video footage, fans didn’t seem too fazed. Despite the admittedly sloppy performance by Cassidy, the crowd responded with cheers and applause, and even chanted his name.

Cassidy first discussed his struggle to stay sober in a 2014 CNN interview with Piers Morgan. “If I take another drink, I’m going to die, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. I’m dead,” he said at the time. He said his third and last DUI in January 2014 was a wake-up call.

After that arrest, which CNN says was his second DUI arrest in six months and his third since 2010, Cassidy was sentenced to five years’ probation and 90 days in alcohol rehab.

“You know, they say it’s a slippery slope … It’s not a slippery slope,” Cassidy told Morgan. “It’s from 12:00 to 6:00 on the clock and the whole face is ice. One sip, one drink, because there is no such thing, not to an alcoholic. You have one and you’re done. I’d be done.”

As news reports of his performance continued to circulate, Cassidy came out on Monday to reveal that he has been struggling with dementia, which affected both his mother and grandfather. He told People that his diagnosis was a big part of the reason why he decided to end his career as a touring musician after nearly 50 years in the music business

Shortly after the health revelation, a source close to Cassidy reportedly told TMZ that the singer said he was not drinking prior to Saturday's performance.

The showbiz veteran became the global sensation at the center of “Cassidymania” during the ‘70s with the popularity of both The Partridge Family and his solo music career. Now at 66 years old, he has other priorities in mind. "I want to focus on what I am, who I am and how I've been without any distractions," he told People. "I want to love. I want to enjoy life."
