British music icon George Michael has reportedly checked into rehab for marijuana addiction. According to German publication Bild, the 51-year-old singer was smoking nearly 25 joints a day when he sought help at high-end Swiss rehab center Kusnacht Practice, which has treated many celebrities.
Michael’s rap sheet is extensive. In 2006, he was arrested for possession of Class C drugs and released with a warning. In 2007, he was arrested for driving under the influence, resulting in community service and a 2-year driving ban. He was later arrested and cautioned in 2008 for drug possession, and arrested in 2010 for “possession of cannabis and with driving while unfit through drink or drugs.”

Last March, the former Wham! singer said that he had abstained from marijuana for “well over a year-and-a-half,” the Washington Post reported. In a 2007 interview with the BBC, Michael said that he was struggling with a marijuana problem and was “constantly trying” to reduce its intake. However, he said at the time that pot was not seriously interfering with his life: "I'm a happy man and I can afford my marijuana so that's not a problem.”
