Introduction and Basic Services

Located on a large 15-acre property in Hanover, Pennsylvania, a small town roughly 50 miles from Baltimore, Clarity Way offers high-end holistic residential treatment to adult men and women. Founded in 2006 and part of Elements Behavioral Health, the organization facilitates substance abuse treatment, mental health care and medically assisted detox.

Facility and Meals

Clarity Way operates its residential program across two large country homes in the quiet, suburban neighborhood of Hanover. The accommodations house a maximum of 15 clients. Each house has a variety of both single and double rooms with full beds, dressers, hardwood floors and comfortable armchairs.

The main house has four lounge areas and a business center with a computer. The Cottage, Clarity Way’s second facility, has 11 beds with both private and single rooms as well as a number of communal areas throughout the residence. This residence provides a great deal of privacy designed for high-profile clients.

Clarity Way allows clients to bring their cell phones and laptops to treatment and has WiFi available throughout the premises.

Clarity Way also has a number of impressive amenities on site, including a fitness center in each residence, sauna, basketball and tennis court, heated pool, ping pong table, salon, pool table as well as a full music and recording studio.

Each house has a fully furnished kitchen stocked with healthy snacks and an on-site professional chef prepares three meals a day. The chef aims to address each client’s individual dietary needs and desires while also crafting healthy meals made with grass-fed meats, and organic fruits and vegetables.

Treatment Protocol and Team

The treatment program at Clarity Way is designed to meet the individual needs of each client. The exact length of treatment can vary anywhere from two weeks to 90 days.

Clarity Way offers a medically monitored on-site detox for clients who are experiencing withdrawal symptoms at admission. The detox generally lasts a week, but can be longer or shorter depending on the client’s needs. Individuals who are undergoing opiate withdrawal specifically may be prescribed Suboxone or Vivitrol.

Clients start their day at 7:15 am with breakfast, followed by morning mediation. They then move into group and individual sessions from 8 to 11 am. Then, at 11:15 am, clients join a fitness group before lunch at 12:30 pm. After lunch, clients participate in either group or individual sessions from 1 to 5 pm. Dinner is served at 6 pm. In the evenings, clients have the option to participate in journaling or step work, off-site AA/NA meetings, homework or personal time before lights out at 11 pm.

Counselors employ a variety of treatment techniques in both group and individual therapy including CBT and Neurofeedback. The organization places a great deal of focus on individual therapy and offers 10 to 15 individual sessions per week. The organization is dual diagnosis and offers mental health counseling for clients with co-occurring disorders.

Although the organization does not offer on-site AA or NA meetings, clients interested in a 12-step approach are encouraged to attend off-site AA, NA or SMART recovery meetings.

Clarity Way has a full medical staff with physicians, nurses and psychiatrists. The counseling staff consists of LCSWs, LPCs, LPNs and recovery specialists. An on-site recovery dog also serves as a much-needed therapeutic resource for all residents.

Clarity Way offers therapy for family members of clients, however clients must request these first and the level of family involvement in client’s treatment is at their own discretion.

Counselors also help develop a detailed aftercare program for clients that includes recovery goals, relapse prevention issues and a structured plan of how to transition back out of therapy.

Bonus Amenities

Clarity Way boasts an array of holistic and alternative therapies including equine therapy, art therapy, yoga, nutritional advice, life coaching, hypnotherapy, animal-assisted therapy, Pilates, massages and acupuncture. Additionally, clients have opportunities for on- and off-site excursions such as hiking, swimming, golfing and fitness classes.

Summary

Clarity Way provides high-end individualized residential treatment for adult men and women. The myriad holistic and alternative treatment methods allow clients to experience unique forms of therapy in a professional setting.
