Introduction and Basic Services

Bryan Health of Lincoln, Nebraska offers hospital-based detox and residential treatment for adolescents and adults. Programming is individualized and rooted in both evidence-based practices and 12-step recovery principles. Dual diagnosis support is also available through Bryan Health.

Facility and Meals

The Bryan Independence Center where clients reside during treatment is a 26-bed facility, and clients share rooms with one other person of the same gender with private bathrooms. The facility is set in a hospital, though Bryan does strive to make the environment as comfortable as possible, and has a computer room clients have access to at certain times of the day and lounges with TVs and comfy chairs. Personal devices aren’t allowed while in treatment, but there is a shared floor phone that clients can use when they’re not in treatment.

There is a cafeteria on the premises that offers a variety of food at all times. Though the staff encourages clients make healthier choices for themselves, there are a variety of options offered, and plenty of coffee and tea.

Treatment Protocol and Team

Treatment at Bryan Health aims to focus on the client as a whole person—not just the behavioral symptoms of their addiction. The results is highly personalized programming that incorporates an array of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and methods. If necessary, a medical detox can be faciliated on-site prior to beginning the behavioral and therapeutic component of treatment.

On average the program days are very long, starting early in the morning and ending late at night. There are group sessions six days a week and two individual sessions within that schedule. Motivational Interviewing (MI), solution focused therapy, CBT DBT and EMDR are examples of modalities utilized by the clinical staff. There is also medication management available and regular meetings with a psychiatrist for clients with co-occurring disorders. Additionally, AA and NA meetings are held on site, and spirituality is a large part of the program structure.

The large staff of over 20 therapists at Bryan Health bring an extensive knowledge of addiction and dual diagnosis treatment to their clients. Physicians, RNs, LADCs and psychologists make up the treatment team.

Outpatient treatment is also offered through Bryan Health and includes a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which can serve as a step-down from primary care.

An alumni operated aftercare program meets twice a week in a group setting on site, and families have the opportunity to receive therapy in a private or group setting.

This facility has an on-site gym and recreation room that has work out equipment and machines clients are encouraged to use regularly.

Summary

While some may not like the idea of staying for up to a month in a hospital, Bryan Health does offer its clients a comfortable and supportive environment and comprehensive treatment. As far as treatment options go in the state of Nebraska, this organization is a solid choice because it offers thorough programming that’s facilitated by an experienced and caring staff. While not necesssarily a resort style treatment, Bryan Health does offer the essential tools for sustained recovery.
