Introduction and Basic Services

The Artesian Wellness and Recovery Center is located 40 miles north of Palm Beach in Stuart, Florida. The facility was founded in 2012 by Dr. Joan Collins, a board-certified physician specializing in naturopathy, with more than 50 years experience building recovery programs. Artesian Wellness believes in treating the whole person, and to that end offers holistic programming that synchronizes evidence-based modalities with alternative therapies. The facility provides Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) in conjunction with upscale transitional housing and sober living.

Facility and Meals

After the detox process, clients at the Artesian Wellness and Recovery Center have the option to take part in a transitional living program while in PHP or IOP, implemeting what’s often referred to as “The Florida Model,” which is essentially a hybrid between residential and outpatient treatment. Clients live in an area that’s separate from where they receive treatment.

They stay in one of 10 duplexes located on two blocks of a quaint residential neighborhood. All residents have at least one roommate, and each duplex is equipped with a full kitchen and common area with a TV. Clients are educated in nutrition, cook their own meals and grocery shop at least once a week.

Treatment Protocol and Team

Artesian Wellness PHP treatment lasts 28 days and IOP is eight weeks. Clients are responsible for attending at least one AA/NA meeting a day whether it is on the campus or not, as well one individual session a week. On-site group therapy facilitated by addiction counselors using CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) is available in the morning and afternoon. In addition to Dr. Collins, the Artesian Wellness team is comprised of licensed mental health counselors, MFTs, addiction specialists and interventionists.

The facility focuses on overall wellness, so to that end clients engage in alternative methods like EEG biofeedback, auricular therapy and neurotransmitter restoration therapy. In addition, some of the holistic methods offered are nutrition education, chiropractic medicine, yoga and exercise.

Bonus Amenities

Residents of Artesian Wellness receive a comprehensive program in a beautiful place. Located five miles from the beach, clients frequently take beach trips and are encouraged to exercise at the local LA Fitness.

Once clients have completed the PHP and IOP treatments, they are given the option to transition into one of Artesian Wellness’ sober living facilities.

Summary

Artesian Wellness and Recovery Center offers safe, sober housing for clients in its PHP and IOP programs, as well as sober living accommodations as they are transitioning back into society. Clients receive a comprehensive biochemical approach that focuses on the health of the mind, soul and body. If that was not enough, residents have multiple post-treatment options as well as an alumni program, where they can connect with peers long after finishing treatment.
