What are Executive Rehab Centers?

The is no universal, cookie-cutter approach to substance abuse treatment. Patients have different lifestyle and family obligations. That means it's important to ensure that any addiction treatment choice aligns with the personal needs and preferences of the patient. For CEOs and other high-profile individuals, executive rehab centers may be the optimal choice.

What is an executive rehab center?

Unlike traditional substance abuse recovery facilities, executive rehab is designed to treat a specific group of people -- those with demanding, high-level jobs or who may be in the public eye. All of the aspects of treatment, from medical detox to counseling, are integrated into a program that caters to the needs of executive patients.

How does executive treatment differ?

Executive treatment differs from conventional approaches by placing a large degree of importance on the patient's ability to stay focused on work. Because CEOs and other executives typically cannot separate themselves from the office for extended periods of time, accommodations must be made. In an outpatient program, an executive may still go to work, conduct meetings and even travel.

Even with a more intensive inpatient approach, executives still may typically engage in day-to-day work activity and interaction with clients. New technology, including communication tools such as video conferencing and instant messaging, has made it easier for executives to stay current with work obligations while undergoing treatment.

Executive treatment also differs with regard to clientele. Executives may feel more at ease surrounded by others from similar professional backgrounds, as they are familiar with the difficulties of managing ultra-demanding work responsibilities and substance abuse.

Are executive rehab centers more expensive?

Generally speaking, yes. In fact, they are often considerably more expensive. Due to the niche, targeted nature of the clientele, these facilities tend to be exclusive and stocked with high-end amenities.  It's not uncommon for these facilities to have resort-style accommodations with "five star" quality offerings.

While some insurers may cover executive rehab for addiction treatment, many do not. If you plan to start your recovery in an executive facility, you should check with your insurer before moving forward.

What does executive treatment cover?

Alcohol abuse, drug abuse, eating disorders and just about every other problem typically addressed by conventional facilities. The treatment protocols are also much the same, with counseling, therapy, detox and other standard offerings.

If you, or a loved one, can benefit from treatment at an executive rehab center, we encourage you to seek assistance today.
