If you have a drinking problem, you’re not alone – excessive alcohol use is the the number one substance abuse issue in the United States. More than 88,000 Americans die every year from this illness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention calculates those early deaths resulted in a staggering 2.5 million potential life years lost between the years of 2006 and 2010.
You don’t have to be another alcohol-related statistic. There are a variety of effective treatments for alcohol abuse, and help is always just one phone call away.
One of the first steps to take when beginning your recovery is a thorough review of your insurance policy.
Magellan Health Services Alcohol Rehab Coverage
Magellan will pay for all or part of your alcohol abuse treatment, provided your plan includes LifeResources coverage. It’s important that you verify this fact before scheduling services or proceeding further. Once you receive authorization from your employee assistance program counselor, you may move ahead with confidence.
What Type of Treatments are Offered Through Magellan Health Services Alcohol Rehab Coverage?
There are a variety of therapeutic and medical approaches to substance abuse treatment. You don’t have to make this important decision alone, however — your insurer, your counselor and treatment specialists can help craft the right recovery plan for you. Some of the more common treatment approaches for alcohol abuse include:
- Inpatient treatment
- Outpatient treatment
- Residential rehab
- Medically supervised detox
- Group counseling
- Executive or luxury treatment
Before seeking any of these treatments, make sure you seek pre-authorization from your Magellan representative. Failure to do so could result in serious financial costs accruing.
How Much Treatment Will Magellan Health Services Alcohol Rehab Coverage Pay For?
Magellan will pay for all costs involved with inpatient treatment if you use a provider within the network and receive pre-authorization. For outpatient treatment, Magellan will cover 90-percent of the costs with a ten-percent co-pay if you use in-network services. Magellan will typically pay for up to two 28 day inpatient stays per year, or $3,500 in outpatient services.
Services and treatment outside Magellan’s network are only covered at 50-percent, so it’s important to make this determination before proceeding.
