About Community Health Prescription Drug Detox Coverage
Community Health Choice administers both state-sponsored and private health insurance plans. All of these policies cover prescription drug detox when it is deemed medically necessary. However, the amount of coverage provided can vary by plan.
- Texas STAR Program (Medicaid) – The Texas STAR program will cover prescription drug detox costs at 100 percent. No copayments or coinsurance will be required if you have insurance under this program.
- Texas CHIP Program – The Texas CHIP program will also cover prescription drug detox expenses. However, you may be required to pay a copay for some or all of the services you receive.
- Marketplace Insurance Policies – Plans sold through the health insurance marketplace can vary considerably. Although coverage is typically available through all of these plans, you may be required to meet a deductible, pay copays and/or pay coinsurance.
Other Considerations
Other factors to consider as you estimate the cost of Community Health Prescription Drug Detox include:
- Type of Treatment – Some types of treatment are naturally more expensive than others. For example, inpatient Community Health Prescription Drug Detox will typically cost more than outpatient detox.
- Network Requirements – Many Community Health Choice plans include a preferred provider network. If you use a provider that is not in this network, your benefits may be reduced, or your detox may not be covered by the plan at all.
- Referrals and Preauthorization – Some plans from Community Health Choice require you to obtain a referral from your primary care physician before you enroll in a detox program. In some cases, you may also be required to obtain prior authorization from the insurance company itself before you begin treatment.
