After an all-too-short rehab stint last year, reality star Scott Disick has checked into a bizarre and perhaps ill-advised luxury rehab center in Costa Rica in a quest to beat his alcohol addiction.

Best known as the father to Kourtney Kardashian’s three children, announced his latest rehab stint in a press release. He checked into the Rythmia Life Advancement Center after being caught stumbling drunk around Atlantic City last weekend.

But after stating in the release that he realized "my issues are bigger than me and I'm ready to truly remedy this struggle I continue to battle." His confession turned into what appeared to be a promotional plug for the center as he touted their “money-back guarantee” and free helicopter ride to its facilities.

The center uses the African psychedelic shrub iboga to send patients on a vision quest to kick their addictions. Sources told TMZ that a shaman observes a patient during their trip and treatment typically takes several weeks. The “iboga flights” are intended to force patients to examine the root of their addictions and what triggers them.

Gerard Powell, Rythmia Center CEO, said that he was addicted to alcohol and cigarettes until being introduced to the iboga plant, which cured him of his cravings the day after using it. His facility denies that addiction is a disease, instead believing that it occurs due to people becoming “dependent on their vices due to past events they have not reconciled with, current conditions they cannot cope with, and things they believe aren't true."

Disick entered rehab for five days last summer, acknowledging that he had been drinking to cope with the death of his parents, both of whom had passed away within the last year. In an episode of Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons that aired last November, Disick was shown falling over and having difficulty forming sentences after a rowdy night out. His bodyguard had to physically pick him up and carry him to bed, where Disick asked his friend if they could take more sleeping pills together.

Kardashian had previously told him that he’s an alcoholic and wanted there to be “ground rules” related to his partying since he’s a father to their children. She was also shown earlier in the season kicking him out of their summer home. “Unless you want to be sober, then I don’t want you here,” she said. “And if you want to die, then you can continue to act this way.”
