Here’s an endorsement that counts: Morgan Freeman loves marijuana and wants it legalized. In an interview with The Daily Beast this week, the beloved actor raved about pot and its “many useful uses,” and seems optimistic about the future of legalization.
"My first wife got me into it many years ago," he said. "How do I take it? However it comes! I'll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time coming, and it's getting legs—longer legs."

Freeman, 77, said a car accident seven years ago left him with nerve damage. "I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm,” he said. “And the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana.”
The actor feels passionately about making the treatment legal and available for others. "They're talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they've discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life,” he said. “That right there, to me, says, 'Legalize it across the board!'"
The Oscar-winning icon has slammed marijuana prohibition in the past. "It’s just the stupidest law possible, given history," he said in 2012. “You’re just making criminals out of people who aren’t engaged in criminal activity. “
As far as potential negative effects, Freeman doesn’t buy into the anti-pot hype. "Look at Woodstock 1969,” he said. “They said, 'We're not going to bother them or say anything about smoking marijuana,' and not one problem or fight."
