Last Thursday, Hollywood socialite Ireland Baldwin, 19, was admitted to a drug and alcohol treatment center in Malibu after an extended period of partying.

Ireland Baldwin, the daughter of actress Kim Basinger and actor Alec Baldwin, felt she didn’t need to be admitted to the Soba Recovery Center, and was “kicking and screaming” during the intake. Shortly thereafter, she took to social media to downplay her situation.

“Apparently I’m in rehab for intensive partying soooo I’m just going to lay pretty low for a bit and maybe get some frozen yogurt,” Ireland tweeted.

She later tweeted, “I checked myself into Soba for two weeks to just get away for a little bit. I’m not much [of] a party cat but I am here to deal with ... some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover. Someday I’ll feel ready to share my story ... openly without feeling the way I do. Right now I just needed a breather. I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools.”

The Baldwin family are no strangers to alcohol and drug addiction. Several family members have previously been admitted to the Soba Recovery Center.

“Alcoholism runs in their family,” the insider said. “Two of Ireland’s relatives also went to this facility, so this place is well-trusted in the family.”

The source stated Baldwin’s stay is “not drug related,” leaving alcohol abuse as the likely reason Baldwin’s mother checked her in. Baldwin also tweeted “God ... Grant me the serenity tonight,” a phrase commonly used by those in recovery.

Baldwin hopes her stay in rehab will help her “overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable places.”
