A Connecticut mother pleaded guilty yesterday to forcing her 4-year-old son to chug a bottle of beer as well as giving her 10-month-old daughter beer and cocaine. Juliette Dunn, 29, also admitted two counts of risk of injury to a child and could face up to two years' jail time when she's sentenced in December. Lisa Jefferson, a 33-year-old friend of Dunn's, pleaded guilty to the same charges and can expect similar consequences. The women were busted on June 28—police officers patrolling Success Village, Bridgeport were waved down by a resident who complained that a woman was making her kids drink beer at a playground. The cops found Dunn and Jefferson sitting in folding chairs, with two young children and an empty 40-ounce bottle of beer nearby. Witnesses said that Jefferson had given the 4-year-old boy the bottle and ordered him to down it. Somewhat unfairly, she then called the kid an "alcoholic." Police later obtained a warrant for the hospital to test both children for drugs and alcohol—they both had booze in their systems, while the 10-month-old girl also tested positive for cocaine. Dunn later admitted to giving her son a bottle of beer every day, and the child had developed marked personal preferences—he told social workers that he much preferred Budweiser to Dog Bite. Following their mother's arrest, both children were turned over temporarily to the Department of Children and Families. Their long-term custody is yet to be determined.
