Courtney Love first met with The Fix a night before the "Rally for Recovery," an annual New York City event that was supposed to be the scene of her latest comeback. Roshan arrived at SoHo's Mercer Hotel armed with a note-pad and a tape recorder. He arrive to find Courtney slumped in a banquette, nursing a bottle of Stella.

For the next four hours, holed up in her cluttered, couture-filled suite at the tony SoHo hotel, the battle-scarred legend spoke candidly about her thrilling and often tragic life—dwelling on her battle with addiction, her ambivalence about AA and her many stints in rehab. Over the next nine months, they went on to meet a dozen more times. In the meantime, Courtney kept up an almost hourly dialogue with the author—emailing, phoning, texting and tweeting him nearly 24 hours a day.

The resulting book—culled from a year of interviews and independent reporting—is a rare look into the manic mind of a musical icon, a grieving mother, and a struggling addict. Roshan uncovers a trove of never-revealed information, including previously-sealed depositions from Frances Bean Cobain, a rare interview with Courtney Love's mother, and details about her upcoming plans to auction off Kurt Cobain’s estate. But the star, as always, is Courtney herself. Alternately seductive, tender, bitter and hilariously funny, the 48-year-old honestly holds forth on a wide variety of subjects, from her husband’s death to her turbulent relationship with her mother and daughter, and her uneasy history with money and men.

Along the way, she smartly takes on an army of allies and enemies, training her guns on the likes of Sean Penn, Scarlett Johansson, Kirstie Alley, Tony Robbins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Harvey Weinstein, Madonna, Clive Owen, Charlie Sheen, Kelly Osbourne, Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gaga, Pamela Anderson, Andy Dick, Tom Cruise, Oliver Stone, Kim Gordon, Sting and Bono, before inevitably turning her fire on the author himself.

Praised for it's nuanced and evenhanded tone, the book's many revelations have so far been reported in over 1,700 major publications, blogs and networks across the world, including The Huffington Post, Slate, TMZ, The San Francisco Chronicle, London's Daily Mail, Paris Match, The L.A. Times, Rolling Stone, ABC News, Fox, MSNBC, TMZ, Radaronline, NBC and CNN.
