Amy Winehouse Races Out of Rehab

When she was admitted last week, her publicist said she would “remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice.” Did she skip out on treatment?

We’ve heard of short rehabs, but this one makes our head spin. Singer Amy Winehouse has ended her stay at the Priory Clinic in London, where she checked herself in at her father’s request, after only one week. “She has completed her assessment at the Priory Clinic in London and will continue as an outpatient,” a publicist said.  “She is now looking forward to playing shows around Europe this summer and is raring to go.” However, when headed for treatment, she reportedly stopped at a shop to buy a mini-bottle of Smirnoff that she gulped down at the counter.

Winehouse had claimed that the rehab stay was to prepare her for a grueling summer of festival appearances across Europe, starting in Serbia on June 18. So the question on everyone’s mind is the same: Did she skip out on treatment? Did she bail, or was she assessed and released as part of some organized treatment regime? As we recall, Whitney Houston was vaguely said to be in treatment on an outpatient basis. (So was Charlie Sheen, for that matter.) Back when she was admitted, as E! online reports, her publicist said that she would “remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice.” Whether she has also left treatment on doctors’ advice is something not known at this time. Given her past erratic behavior, we can’t help worrying like a mother hen over whether this girl is pushing her luck and her health about as far as it will go.
