AmeriHealth Rehab and Heroin Detox Coverage

The deadly risks of heroin use are no secret. Most of us are familiar with the devastating effects opiate addiction can have on body, mind and spirit. Yet this knowledge isn't always enough to keep people away from the drug. And once they've become addicted, stopping heroin abuse often becomes the fight of a lifetime.

If you're struggling with heroin addiction, please be aware that help is out there waiting for you. Before you seek treatment, however, it's important to review your insurance coverage. By doing so, you can find out which treatments are covered and how much that coverage pays.

AmeriHealth Heroin Detox Coverage

Like many insurance providers, AmeriHealth covers non-biological mental illnesses and substance abuse treatments. It's important to note, however, that the company's plans vary considerably. Some policies offer reduced substance abuse coverage, while other policies offer fairly comprehensive coverage.

If you're dealing with heroin addiction, it's critical that your coverage aligns with your specific treatment needs.

Which Treatments are Offered by AmeriHealth Heroin Detox Coverage?

There are a variety of treatment approaches for heroin addiction. These options include:

  • Inpatient rehab
  • Outpatient visits
  • Executive or luxury rehab
  • Counseling
  • Medically supervised detox

Your physician and insurance carrier can help determine the right course of treatment for you. For people who need intensive treatment, or to relocate to a place free of temptation, inpatient rehab often makes sense. Patients with work or family obligations may require the flexibility offered by outpatient treatment. Luxury and executive treatments offer upscale services and/or therapy designed for those with demanding work schedules. These treatments are not always covered, however, though patients always retain the right to self-pay.

How Much Will AmeriHealth Heroin Detox Coverage Pay For?

This depends on your specific policy. The more extensive policies offered by AmeriHealth will cover up to 30 days of inpatient treatment or 20 to 30 outpatient visits. Deductible and co-pay costs still apply. Some basic policies pay only a percentage of costs (between 50-70 percent in most cases), however, so it's vital to check your policy closely.

Some AmeriHealth policies also cap the amount you have to pay out of pocket for treatment each year. These caps range from $1,500 to $5,000 depending on the policy.
