VIDEO: One Direction Caught Smoking Weed In Peru
Members of the squeaky clean boy band proved to be anything but in a leaked video.
Are members of One Direction going down the classic route of squeaky clean pop stars gone bad? Two of the boy band members, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, were caught on tape smoking what appeared to be marijuana while visiting Peru. The video was filmed in a car last month during a stop on the group’s Where We Are world tour.
“So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days!" said Tomlinson from behind the camera. Tomlinson declared that he wanted to “light up” as the car left a parking lot and a rolled cigarette appears to be lit shortly after. He then joked about a nearby police car escorting their van, declaring “One nil bitch! Look at this bitch! He's having a look. He's thinking, 'I'm sure I can smell an illegal substance in there.' And he's hit the nail on the head."
Malik remained silent throughout much of the video, but accepted the joint when offered to him and took a drag. He also claimed to be really excited “about the culture when we get to Jamaica.” Tomlinson joked around as Malik smoked, saying "Zayn takes his job very seriously. He makes sure he goes through a two hour intense warm-up before every show. Just to get himself in the zone for the show.”
But even if the boys were caught by police, marijuana isn’t illegal in Peru as long as it’s for personal use and the person is holding less than eight grams.
Still, their actions upset some fans enough that they started ripping up their tickets for upcoming shows.
