Rihanna's Dad Afraid She'll End Up Like Whitney
Rihanna's father, a former crack user, worries about his partying daughter.
Tales of pop singer Rihanna's heavy partying have caused her father, Ronald Fenty, to express concerns that she will end up like her childhood idol, Whitney Houston. “She admired Whitney because of her range, her voice, her appearance, her personality—everything,” he tells The Sun. Fenty, himself a former crack addict, adds that he hopes the similarities between Whitney and Rihanna—full name Robyn Rihanna Fenty—will end there. The star's good-girl-gone-bad behavior has provoked media attention recently. Last week, she was accused of promoting drug use after posting party photos from Coachella on photo-sharing application Instagram, in which she sits on her bodyguard’s shoulders while messing around with an unspecified white powder. The "Umbrella" singer was also photographed smoking a cigarette that looked suspiciously like a blunt back in January. “I hope she will be smart enough not to go down that path. I think she is smart enough not to,” says her father, referring to Houston's widely publicized battle with drugs and alcohol that ultimately led to her death in February. Rihanna’s former pastor also expresses concern: “After Robyn became a star, her life has taken a different turn. I pray for her a lot.”
