Their proliferation is unlikely ever to match that of porn sites themselves, but sites specifically to help porn addicts are becoming more common. Following the recent launch of FeedTheRightWolf.org, Las Vegas therapist Ryan Wynder is getting in on the act. Having seen a steep increase in patients suffering from addictions to porn and masturbation, Wydner has started a website called OvercomePornography.com to help sufferers. Because of the increasing accessibility of hard core pornography—much of it free—it's easier to get hooked at a younger age. “This addiction is no respecter of persons,” says Wynder. “Brain studies have shown that…it’s harder to quit porn than crystal meth or crack.” He applies the techniques from his private practice to his website, using online video-based courses composed of 23 modules—each module equivalent to one therapy session—instead of face-to-face counseling. The global porn industry rakes in about $97 billion a year—more than Google, Amazon, Microsoft and eBay combined.
