Some say it was LSD. Others blame "bath salts." A few are suggesting PCP. It's natural that people should grope desperately for explanations when it comes to the story of a naked man in Miami literally eating another man's face. Details are still coming in, but here's what authorities know: on Saturday afternoon a cyclist saw a naked man "tearing" another man "to pieces with his mouth" on the MacArthur Causeway, which runs between downtown Miami and Miami Beach. The cyclist flagged down a police officer who ordered the nude face-eater to stop. Instead, the attacker just turned to the officer, growled, and went back to eating. So the officer shot and killed him. Attention soon turned to the victim, who was rushed to a hospital with 75% of his face missing: both ears, both lips and one eye were completely gone. "It was just a blob of blood," witness Larry Vega said. "You couldn't really see, it was just blood all over the place." As the victim recovers speculation about the cause of the attack has begun. One Miami police officer told a local TV station he thinks it was LSD, which can cause people to feel as if their insides are burning and may explain why the attacker was naked. Meanwhile, an ER doctor said the new designer drug bath salts were likely to blame. Internet speculation seems to be leaning toward PCP, which is known to provide "superhuman" strength. Whatever this man was on turned him into a crazed, flesh-hungry killer. As witness Vega said, “The closest thing I’ve seen to it? The Walking Dead.”
