The family of Jeff Conaway has decided to turn off life support for the actor. "Doctors advised the family that Jeff has had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital," a source told Conaway, 60, has been in a persistent coma since he was admitted to the hospital after an alleged drug overdose. The feeding tube and ventilator have been removed, and no medical measures will be taken to revive him, doctors said. Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Conaway on Celebrity Rehab, continues to insist that the actor was hospitalized for pneumonia and the development of a related infection. Sources said Conaway began abusing painkillers again after undergoing emergency surgery for a broken neck and hip in January of 2010. The actor had taken Scientology courses to break his addiction at the urging of his friend John Travolta.

Last February, my oldest friend died of a heroin overdose at the age of 49. He beat me to recovery, and he beat me to death. He also gave a final, drug-alogue interview on my radio show 20 hours before he died.
