Still recovering from a bruising sex tape with Rebecca Gayheart, TV's "McSteamy" says he's addicted to pain meds he was taking for a sports injury.

Looks like someone has learned a lesson in how to handle the media.  Just check out the press on Eric Dane’s summer vacation:

—"Grey’s Anatomy” actor Eric Dane checked into rehab for an addiction to painkillers sometime this summer, his rep told USA Today.

—“Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus,” his rep said in a statement. “He reports back to work next week. Business as usual.”

—E! Online reports that Dane checked into a 30-day program in Los Angeles last month, and that the actor has already returned to the "Grey’s set".

So far, the media seems very hands off for a star who, in 2009,  was making headlines with a drug-fueled sex tape featuring his then-pregnant wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and a former Miss Teen USA contestant/ex-Celebrity Rehabber. Could the kid gloves be explained by the subsequent lawsuit and settlement with Gawker media for a reported six figure sum?

Dane and his wife recently announced that they are expecting their second child.
