‘Pippi Longstocking’ Arrested for DUI, Hit-and-Run

She was adorable as the beloved freckle-faced children’s character, but now actress Tami Erin has fallen on hard times.

Tami Erin, who rose to fame playing the spunky title character in The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking (1988), was arrested in Los Angeles for DUI and felony hit-and-run after she plowed into not one, not two, but three cars while driving drunk.

Erin allegedly hit the cars - apparently not all at once - on Saturday afternoon before fleeing the scene. She was later found by police and given a field sobriety test that she failed. According to police, Erin was “totally out of control…just out of it.” She allegedly refused a blood alcohol test and was released on $100,000 bail.

The arrest was the latest blow to the out-of-spotlight actress this year. Back in April, Erin was arrested for assaulting her roommate, while in October her ex-boyfriend shopped a sex tape that prompted her to take matters into her own hands and allow the company to release it with her blessing.  “I’m happy I took control of the situation and made a decision as a strong independent woman,” Erin said. “I love who I am and I love my sexuality … I’ve seen the sex tape now and it’s hot."

Erin made her film debut in Pippi Longstocking following a worldwide talent search, but failed to capitalize on her rise to fame and has done little else in mainstream entertainment.
